Real time web availability of statistical models for water levels along the texas coastline

چکیده
Water level forecasts are essential to the success of trade and industry in the Gulf of Mexico, but present forecasting methodologies do not provide accurate predictions for the Gulf Coast region. Tide charts produced by harmonic analysis are the existing standard, but these charts only show the effect of astronomical forces acting upon the water. While this proves to be an accurate predictor for most of the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts, water level changes along the Texas Coast are strongly effected by meteorological factors and thus require a modified prediction model, rather than harmonic analysis alone. A web-based tool was created that combines harmonic analysis with multivariate statistical modeling to predict water levels along the Texas Gulf Coast. The result is a substantial improvement on the current model with forecasts available via the World Wide Web.

A CYCLONE INDUCED STORM SURGE FORECASTING MODEL FOR THE COAST OF BANGLADESH WITH APPLICATION TO THE CYCLONE `SIDR'
The coast of Bangladesh has a specialty in terms of high bending and many off- shore islands. Incorporation of the coastline and island boundaries properly in the numerical scheme is essential for accurate estimation of water levels due to surge. For that purpose a numerical scheme consisting of very fine mesh is required along the coastal belt, whereas this is unnecessary away from the coast. In...

The Makran Coast (Iranian Coastline of the Oman Sea on the Northern Indian Ocean) plays an important role in country’s future navigation and trade due to its accessibility. In 2014, the Iranian Makran coastline was selected by the PMO to be studied as the Phase 6 in the series of Monitoring and Modelling Studies of Iranian Coasts with all disciplines being in investigated including currents. Abstract Sound generating human activities so-called “anthropogenic sound” have increased ambient sound levels considerably in aquatic habitats that are markedly diverse in time and space. Sound generating human activities is now recognized as a potential driver of environmental changes in marine habitats. Iran has 750 km coastline along the Caspian Sea located in the north and around 2250 km ...
متن کاملWater Level Prediction with Artificial Neural Network Models
Tide tables are the method of choice for water level predictions in most coastal regions. In the United States, the National Ocean Service (NOS) uses harmonic analysis and time series of previous water levels to compute tide tables. This method is adequate for most locations along the US coast. However, for many locations along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, tide tables do not meet NOS criter...

Heavy metal pollution dispersion simulation in rivers and predicting spatial and temporal variations of pollutants can be used to determine the precise place and to schedule water withdrawal time for drinking, agriculture, aquaculture and ecosystem studies. To study the movement of heavy metal pollution through Karoon flow model, MIKE 11 was employed fpr simulation of the flow model of Karoon R...
